Maybe it’s Dorothy’s ruby red slippers from the ‘Wizard of Oz’, or perhaps it was my own red ‘go-go’ boots my mom dressed me in when I was four years old that helped me to form the belief that Red Shoes = Confidence.
It’s so interesting to me that my entire wardrobe is pretty much based in neutral colors of browns and grays, black and white, with a token green shirt here and there however, I always have a few pairs of red shoes or boots, a red handbag and even my favorite coral red Buddha necklace to help pop some color in to my life! Throughout the years I have noticed that I gravitate to my red shoes and accessories when I’m nervous about something or just feeling kind of blah. I put on those red shoes with my otherwise neutral colored outfit and voila!!!…an instant transformation in attitude and feelings! I get a similar feeling when I wear my red necklace or carry a red handbag, but not quite as powerful as my red shoes. I cannot recall ever having a bad day while wearing my red shoes! (I’m sure this is just my perception based off my belief of my ‘magic’ red shoes!)
