I Am

I Am

The other night I watched the documentary “I Am,” and found myself filled with emotion and tears the entire time. If you have not had the privilege to watch yet, I encourage you to take the time to do so. Briefly though, this is documentary created by Tom Shadyac who has acquired much success and wealth throughout his life producing movies such as Ace Ventura and The Nutty Professor, just to name a couple. After an accident and serious health issues, Tom begins to question his role in society and whether the way he is living is in fact a part of the problem in our world or a part of the solution. The journey he embarks upon is one of great inspiration, wisdom, and hope.

The main message of this movie is love, and the way in which love is the solution to changing our world. What is interesting about this movie is that spirituality, science, and humanity converge to show us that love truly is the answer. We are inspired to come together, work as community, take only what is needed for our true happiness, and change the world by exhibiting our own acts of love and kindness in our every day life. The movie is empowering, inspiring, and truly instilled a very deep hope and faith in humanity that I think we can sometimes lose sight of.

And so, after watching “I Am,” I am further inspired to devote myself to love and kindness. To each and every day look into the eyes of my fellow human beings, acknowledge them, and say hello. I will continue to help those in need, especially those without food and shelter, knowing that we are all one. We are all connected and the separation between us is all an illusion. I have for a long time said that if my son were that person on the street in need of food, money, shelter that I hope and pray he would encounter kindness from others willing to give him what they can. Every single person we come into contact with is someone else’s child, someone in need of our love.

I am inspired to meet adversity and anger with kindness, respect, and love knowing that simply by the way I show up in the world can inspire change around me. I hope to impact the universe in a positive way that brings light to darkness and hope to fear. I strive to make a difference in my little corner of this vast universe each and every day. I know it can sound silly and idealistic, but the truth is that we are all so much more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. If we chose to never limit ourselves, the possibilities would be endless. I encourage each and every one of you that read this post to share it, share you, and show up to the world in a space of love. Spark and inspire change in each of your little corners of this universe.
