I read a beautiful quote today by Mohandas Gandhi that said, “happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” I sit today, on my birthday in harmony and am filled with so much gratitude for the peace and contentment that engulfs my heart. I am in a space in my life that I have journeyed far and wide to reach. I have dreamed of this place and long ago set my intention to be here. I have struggled and at times fallen, only to get back up a little stronger and much wiser, continuing forward into the unknown. There were moments of uncertainty, but my faith in the universe allowed me to keep going until I reached the freedom I had longed for. I have found harmony and within that harmony is space for all of me to exist.
I think that for many of us, it is easier to focus on our shortcomings and the things we wish to improve. We tend to gloss over how absolutely wonderful we are and don’t really honor ourselves for all of our successes. How often do we sit and acknowledge just how far we have come, the situations we have overcome, our strengths, our talents, and our beautiful hearts. For me, a person that has always been focused on “self-improvement,” I spent more time focused on fixing what was wrong instead of celebrating what was right. One of the most important things I have learned though is that everything is “right.” Every single thing about us, around us, and within us is exactly what is needed for our own unique journey. It is all necessary and all to be looked upon with love and acceptance.
And so today, I celebrate me. I celebrate everything about me. The places I have been, the experiences I have had, the mistakes I have made, the people who have been in my life, my achievements, and the entirety of the journey I have been on to discover this beautiful light within. I feel such utter and unconditional love for all that is me. I honor and acknowledge my courage, my vulnerability, and my willingness to put myself out there and make mistakes. I honor and acknowledge my imperfections, as I am perfectly imperfect. I honor and acknowledge my sense of peace, harmony, and freedom. Today on my birthday I shine brightly, filled with the gift of celebrating me.
